We found the people of Costa Rica to be so welcoming and friendly. Jennie was as surprised as I was by how different it was compared to Mexico. Her only Hispanic experiences are with Mexico and Mexicans and Costa Ricans are so different! I was constantly impressed by how important recycling was to all the cities and towns. Everywhere you would find bins for recycling! Time tends to move a little slower in Costa Rica than what we are used to in the US. People aren't rushing and they don’t have that same intense "madness" in their eyes as we do in this country. The biggest shocker to us was the amount of land development that was happening there. Many new homes, resorts, condo's etc. were tearing down the beautiful landscape of this country and pushing the wildlife further away. What we did notice in terms of healthy habits was that nobody really goes out to "exercise" but they all seem to live a very active life. They walk and ride bikes for transportation and very few just sit back on computers, TV's or any other sedentary activities. Chef Eyal made the comment that people of Costa Rica eat to fuel their bodies.
